To the victors go the spoils after the Casey County High School Academic Team cleaned up in Berea with a 12th Region Championship. The team is off to Louisville on St. Patrick’s Day to compete against the 31 best teams in the state.

The Casey County High School Academic Team has accomplished more this year than ever, and is on its way to state competition, March 17 through March 20 at the Galt House in Louisville.

On Feb. 18, the team was crowned the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition (KAAC) 12th Region champions after a tournament at Berea High School. Coach Derek Coomer said that the competition was tough, especially after Casey was placed in a district with traditional powers Danville and Boyle County earlier this year. Despite the increased level of competition, the Rebels performed at a high level. Coomer attribute’s the team’s success to its work ethic.
