Following Friday’s windstorm, more than 10,000 Taylor County RECC customers in Taylor, Green, Adair and Casey counties were left without electricity.
Left in the dark as flocks of crews and contractors assessed damage and began restoration efforts, many Taylor County residents were without power for several days.
With all hands on deck along with mutual aid reinforcements, TCRECC has been able to restore nearly all meters within four days.
As of Tuesday evening, 700 meters within TCRECC’s footprint remain out of service, though residents and crews hope to restore power as quickly as possible.
According to Kentucky Utilities, the storm impacted nearly 400,000 KU customers statewide, with more than 1,700 downed power lines and 500 utility poles; more than 90% of impacted KU customers now have power again.
Updating customers via Facebook, hundreds of TCRECC customers have expressed appreciation for crews, while several local businesses and restaurants throughout the service territory have donated meals to working linemen.
If you encounter a downed powerline or pole, report it to your electricity provider. Never touch, cross or go near downed lines or poles.
